nād-’alī(for نادِ علیًا 'call on, or invoke, ‘alī'), s.f. A stone brought by pilgrims from Mecca on which are inscribed benedictions or prayers from the Qor`ān, beginning with the words nādi-’alī(such stones are hung as charms round the necks of children).
Origin: Arabic
