kārwān, vulg. kārwāṅ(prob.=kār+rawān), s.m. A caravan, a large company of travellers, or merchants, or pilgrims, united for mutual protection on a journey:—kārwān-bāshī, s.m. The chief of a caravan:—kārwānsarāor sarāe, s.f. A public building for the reception of caravans, a caravansary; an inn.
