shāna[v.n. fr. shāndanor shān-īdan, 'to comb,' for shawāndanor ṣhawānīdan, causal of shudan'to go,' rt. Zend shu= S. च्यु], s.m. A comb; a (cock's) comb, a crest; a honey-comb (=shān); the shoulder-blade:—shāna-dān, s.m. A comb-case:—shāna-sar, s.m. 'Crest-head'; the hoopoe; the puet, etc.
