ḵẖayāl, vulg. ḵẖiyāl (v.n. fr. خال , for خیل 'to think, to fancy,' etc.), s.m. Thought, opinion, surmise, suspicion, conception, idea, notion, fancy, imagination, conceit. whim, chimera; consideration; regard, deference; apprehension; care, concern;—an imaginary form, apparition, vision, spectre, phantom, shadow, delusion;—a kind of song:—ḵẖayāl-ě-bāt̤il, s.m. Foolish imagination; a wrong idea, false notion, misconception:—ḵẖayāl bāṅdhnā(-kā), To form a conception or idea (of), to imagine; to frame a thought or image in the mind; to build castles in the air;—to arrange (one's) thoughts:—ḵẖayāl-bandī, s.f. Structure of the imagination;—imagining, dreaming, castle-building:—ḵẖayāl-parast, adj. & s.m. Fanciful;—a visionary; a castlebuilder:—ḵẖayāl-paṛnā, v.n.
