चीही ćīhī, चीहे ćīhe, s.m. Name of a subdivision of the Gūjārtribe.ح ḥe, The ninth letter of the Urdū alphabet (the sixth of the Arabic, whence it is taken), called ḥā`ě-muhmala (q.v.) and ḥā`ě-ḥut̤t̤ī, 'the ḥāwhich occurs in the word ḥut̤īof the abjad.' Its sound is an aspiration much stronger, and formed deeper in the fauces, than that of h.. It occurs only in Arabic words, or in secondary formations from Arabic words. In the abjad (q.v.) it has the numerical value eight; in astronomical tables it denotes the sign Sagittarius; and in royal grants, etc. it is the initial letter of the words ḥuẓūr-navīs, 'the Secretary in Waiting,' whose business it was to issue such grants with his siguature affixed.
