चुंगी ćuṅgī[ćun (nā)+S. अ+क+इका], s.f. A cess levied from grain-sellers, etc. (being as much grain as a man can grasp in his hand); the fees of a weigher of grain; town-duties; illegal abstractions of handfuls of market produce (frequently, however, given as a sort of rent for the use of market conveniences, or to zamīndārs, baniyās, etc. for the establishment of new markets):—cuṅgī-peṅṭh, s.f. A market or fair held on condition of giving a small portion of each saleable article to the zamīndār.
