वार wār[S. वारः], s.m. A multitude, quantity, heap; a flock, herd, troop;—time;—a day (of the week, e.g. Som-wār, 'Monday');—a moment; time, turn; vicissitude; occasion, opportunity;—a name of Śiva;—anything which causes an obstruction, a gate, door, doorway;—a vessel for holding spirituous liquor;—s.f. Time (considered as long or excessive, and as taken up or used), delay, waiting; patience;—vacant or unemployed time, leisure:—wār ḵẖālījānā(-kā), The opportunity to be lost; to miss (one's) turn or chance; to miss, to fall short (of), to fail:—wār karnā, v.n. To make delay, to delay:—wār milnā, v.n. To have (one's) turn;—to get an opportunity;—to find or have leisure:—wār-wār, adv. Repeatedly, again and again (see bār-bār; bārambār).
