मठारना maṭhārnā[maṭhā= Prk. मट्ठअ=S. मृ ƴ+क+ār= āl (caus. augment)+nā= Prk. अणअं=S. अनीयं ], v.t. To hammer down the dints and inequalities of (a new metal vessel); to smooth and give shape by hammering to (a new metal vessel); to rub and beat (kneaded dough) with the knuckles; (fig.) to coax or wheedle, to talk over, win over by soft speech, etc., to prevail upon, to make willing;—to dilate or expatiate upon.
