म्लेच्छ mleććha, vulg. mleććh, and H. मलेच्छ maleććh, and मलेछ malećh, s.m. A foreigner, barbarian, non-Aryan; man of an outcast race; a generic term for a person speaking any language but Sanskrit or some language derived from it, and not conforming to the usual Hindūinstitutions;—a wicked or bad man, miscreant, sinner; an infidel;—an unclean person or race, one who makes (or those who make) no distinction between clean and unclean food;—a glutton:—mleććh-bhāshā, or malećh bhāshā, s.f. A barbarous or foreign language;—a Hindījargon containing a large admixture of Persian and Arabic:—mleććh-bhojan, s.m. 'Food of foreigners or barbarians'; wheat;—half-ripe barley:—mleććh-jāti, vulg. malećh-jāt, s.m. & f. A person belonging to one of the barbarian races; one of an outcast race; a barbarian, a savage; a mountaineer (as a Kirāta, etc.):—mleććh-deś, vulg. malećh-des, s.m. A foreign or barbarous country; the countries bordering on India; any country inhabited by people of a language and institutions different from those of the Hindūs;—any country where the black antelope is not found:—mleććh-vāk, adj. & s.m. (f. -ī), Speaking a barbarous or foreign language;—one who speaks a barbarous dialect.
