mu`allif (act. part. of ألّف 'to unite, or put together; to compile,' etc., ii of ألِف 'to keep to, cleave to,' etc.), s.m. One who collects or puts together; a compiler, composer, author; editor:—mu`allaf (pass. part. of the same verb), part. Compiled, composed (see mu`allafa).
