लोिनया loniyā, लूिनया lūniyā[Prk. लोिणओ; S. लवण+इकः], adj. & s.m. Salt, saline, brackish;—a caste of men employed in the manufacture of salt; an individual of that caste, a salt-maker;—a tribe or caste of Baniyās (who deal in salt); an individual of that caste; a salt vender;—a pioneer;—an acid pot-herb, purslain, Portulaca oleracea (in this sense the word is fem. in Sanskrit, and takes the Prākrit form loṇikā):—loniye-kāsāg, Purslain (=loniyā).
