qadam (v.n. fr. قدم , inf. n. qadm, 'going before, preceding'), s.m. The foot; sole of the foot; a foot's length; a footstep, step, pace;—a going before; merit:—qadam uṭhākar ćalnā, To walk fast, to step out:—qadam āge rakhnā= qadam baṛhānā, q.v.:—qadam-bāz, adj. Nimble-footed, fleet;—ambling:—qadam baṛhānā, v.n. To put the foot well forward, to step out, to take long steps, to walk fast; to put the foot (beyond, -se); to go or step beyond bounds, to exceed due limits, to transgress; to encroach (on):—qadam-ba-qadam, adv.
