qaḥt̤(inf. n. of قحط 'to be withheld' (rain); 'to fail,' etc.), s.m. Drought, scarcity, dearth; failure of the crops or harvest; famine; want, penury, hunger, starvation:—qaḥt̤paṛnā, v.n. Famine to occur:—qaḥt̤-zada, adj. & s.m. Stricken with dearth; famine-stricken; starving, famished; dead from starvation;—one who is starving; one who has died of starvation; a starveling; a glutton:—qaḥt̤-sālī, s.f. Dearth; failure of harvest; famine.
