fahm (inf. n. of فہم 'to understand,' etc.), s.m. Understanding, conception, perception, apprehension, comprehension, intellect, intelligence, sense;—(in Pers., rt. of fahm-īdan, fr. A. fahm), act. part. Understanding, apprehending, perceiving, etc. (used as last member of compounds, e.g. suḵẖan-fahm, 'understanding a speech or discourse'):—fahmdār, adj. Intelligent, sharp, acute.
