funduq, or finduq, vulg. fanduq[an arabicised form; also bunduq, 'a ball, bullet'; 'a nut' (whence prob. bundūqor bandūq, 'a gun'); old forms are fendak,pendak; prob. akin to S. piṇṇa, or piṇḍaka, 'a ball'], s.f. A hazelnut;—(met.) the stained tips of the fingers or toes (as being likened to hazel-nuts):—funduqband, s.f. Staining the tips of the fingers, etc. (to resemble the hazel-nut).
