fanā(inf. n. of فنی 'to pass away, to perish,' etc.), s.f. Mortality, frailty, corruption, decay, perdition, destruction, death;—adj. Passed away, departed, deceased, defunct; nonexistent, extinct:—fanā-paẕīr, adj. Perishable, destructible; transitory, frail, etc.;—perished, destroyed, etc.:—fanāfi’l-lāh honā, To be absorbed in the Deity; to be lost in the contemplation of God and insensible to all else;—to die:—fanākarnā, v.t. To destroy, to annihilate:—fanāho-jānā, v.n. To pass away, to vanish, perish; to cease to be, to die.
