īq (inf. n. of ضیق 'to be or become narrow or strait'), s.m. Straitness of mind, mental distress, vexation, anxiety, anguish, affliction, oppression of spirit, melancholy, doubt, anything that tortures the mind, hippishness; difficulty, dilemma:—īqu`nnafas, s.m. Difficulty of breathing; the asthma; shortness of breath.
