ḥurmat (for A. حرمة , inf. n. of حر 'to be forbidden,' etc.), s.f. Reverence, respect, honour, dignity; 'a thing that should be sacred or inviolable,' (hence) honour, reputation, character; chastity (syn. ābrū):—ḥurmat-bahā, s.m. Damages for defamation; compensation for calumny or libel:—ḥurmat toṛnā(-kī), To injure the reputation or character (of), to disgrace:—ḥurmat denā, v.t.
