ījāb[inf. n. iv of وجب 'to be necessary,' etc.], s.m. Rendering necessary; (in Logic) affirmation (as opp. to 'privation'); assent; (in Moḥammadan law) the first proposal made by one of the parties in negotiating or concluding a bargain:—ījāb-o-qabūl, s.m. Proposal and assent or acceptance (in a negotiation of marriage, etc.).
