अखय akhay, अखै akhai, akhaë[S. अक्षय], adj. Not liable to decay, undecaying, everlasting (see akshay):—akhay-bar, akhaybriksh, s.m. The immortal tree,—a species of Ficusfamous in Hindūlegend as undecaying:—akhay-tīj, akhetīj (S. akshaya+tr̤itiyā), s.m. A festival observed on the third day of the bright half of Baisākh (April-May), which secures permanency to actions then performed. On that day the cultivators settletheir accounts for the expenses of the Rabī`or spring crop, and the repayment of advances (also written akhtijand akhā-tīj):—akhe-tīj-kābhā`o, The rate of corn on the day of akhe-tīj, at which rate the cultivator agrees to repay in kind the advances made to him together with the interest thereon.
