zhe (called zā`e fārsī, or zā`e `ajamī, 'the Persian z'), is the seventeenth letter of the Hindūstānīand the fourteenth of the Persian alphabet.. It has the sound of s in the English pleasure, or z in azure.. It has no corresponding character in the Devanāgarīand Arabic alphabets.. It is often confounded with z, and occasionally changed to j.
