ओम् om, s.m. The mystic name for the Hindūtriad (representing the union of the three gods, viz. अ, Vishṇu; उ, Śiva; म, Brahmā);—adv. Yea, verily, so be it, amen: (omis used at the beginning and end of a reading of the Vedas, previously to any prayer, and also as an auspicious salutation):—oṅ-kār, s.m. The sacred and mystical syllable om; the exclamation om:—on namas siddh (vulg. onam-āsī, or onam), s.f. 'I prostrate myself before om (the Hindūtriad) and all perfect beings'; first lesson or prayer.
