muḵẖtār (pass. and act. part. of اختار , viii of (and syn. with) خار (for خیر ) 'to choose'), part. adj. & s.m. Chosen, selected, elected, preferred;—invested with power or authority; having legal power; absolute, independent, at full liberty (to act as one chooses); authorized, competent;—a free agent; prime mover; responsible party;—an agent, assignee; procurator, proctor; a delegate, representative; attorney (not generally authorized to plead), solicitor:—muḵẖtār-ě-riyāsat, s.m. General manager of an estate, etc., a bailiff:—muḵẖtārě-’ām, s.m. A general agent:—muḵẖtār-kār, adj. and s.m. Having authority in business;—a director, superintendent, manager, commissioner; an attorney:—muḵẖtār-kārī, s.f. Procuration (the act); attorneyship:—muḵẖtār karnā(-ko), To constitute (one) an agent, etc., to authorize, to empower:—muḵẖtār-ě-kull, or muḵẖtār-ě-mut̤laq, s.m. One invested with full powers; a plenipotentiary:—muḵẖtār-ě-maqbūla, s.m. An approved (or a recognized) agent:—muḵẖtār-nāma, s.m. Written power or authority; a power of attorney:—muḵẖtār hokar, adv.
