qāf, s.m. A fabulous mountain, supposed to surround the world and bound the extreme horizon (it rests on the stone saḵẖrat, an entire emerald, the reflection from which, according to the poets, occasions the azure colour of the sky; the qāfis the abode of the devs, and jinnor genii, and also of the parīsor fairies, and of the sīmurg̠or great griffin);—Mount Caucasus:—koh-ě-qāf, s.m.=qāf.
