ستی

सती satī(f. of sat), adj. & s.f. Virtuous, true, chaste, constant, faithful;—a virtuous wife; the faithful wife who burns herself with her husband's corpse; an epithet of the goddess Durgāor Pārvatī;—the ceremony of a widow burning herself on her husband's funeral pile:—satī-kapaṭ, s.f.
