maulūd (pass. part. of ولد 'to give birth to'), part. adj. Generated, born;—s.m. A son;—nativity, birthday;—celebration of the anniversary of the prophet Moḥammad's birth (also maulūd sharīf);—poetry chauted before the bier of a deceased person when carried out, burial-service.
