जोत jot [Prk. जोƣं; S. योƠं, rt. युज], s.f. Fastening, tie, band, cord, rope, strap, trace (of a carriage, etc.); the strap or cord that fastens the yoke of a plough, etc. to the neck of the ox; a yoke; the rigging of a ship;—(v.n. of jotnā, q.v.) yoking (oxen to a carriage, or to a plough, etc.);—ploughing, tillage, cultivation, husbandry, agriculture; cultivated land, a cultivated tract; the holding or tenure of a cultivator; the rent paid by a cultivator:—jotbot, s.f. Tillage, husbaudry, agriculture:—jotjam`, s.f. The land cultivated and the assessment paid by a cultivator:—jot-jog, adj. Fit for cultivation, culturable, arable:—jot-dār, s.m.
