तानना tānnā[tān˚= Prk. ताण(इ), or ताणे(इ)=S. तानय(ित), caus. of rt. तन् ], v.t. To extend, stretch, expand; to pull, pull over (as a sheet, etc.); to tighten; to contract; knit (the brow); to pitch (a tent); to string up, to hang; to send in succession (as letters, etc.); to bring before (a magistrate), to sue;—v.n. To lie full length; to sleep; to die:—tān-denā, v.t. intensive of tānnā.
