پٹا

पट्टा paṭṭā[S. पट्टः, or पऽ+कः], s.m. A board on which Hindūs sit whilst eating their meals or performing religious ceremonies; a fuller's board, board, table;seat; a lock of hair, ringlet, curl; the collar of a horse, or of a dog, etc.; girth of a horse; shoulder-strap and badge (of a peon, etc.); gold or silver threads of an old native shoe; an ornament (worn by women as an appendage to the bālī); an ornament for the forehead, frontlet; a deed (com. a title-deed to land), a deed of lease; a code or book of regulations for the guidance of rentcollectors:—paṭṭāutārnā(-kā), To take off the strap and badge, to dismiss from service:—paṭṭā-pher, s.m.
