भरना bharnā[S. भरणीयं , rt. भृ ], v.n. To be contained to fullness, be filled or filled up, be full; to be satisfied or sated; to be performed, be finished, be complete; to fill up, heal (as a wound); to be covered (as a mare), be lined (as a bitch); to be poured in; to abound, be replete (with, -se); to be loaded or laden, be charged (as a gun); to be stuffed, crammed, choked, stopped up (but in this sense bhar-jānāis the usual form); to be stored, stacked, heaped up, accumulated; to be watered or irrigated (as a field); to be steeped (in, -meṅ), soaked, drenched; to be painted, coloured, daubed, stained, polluted, defiled; to be cast (in a mould); to be paid in full (a debt), be refunded, be remitted; to be made good, be restored; to be full or ripe, come to a head, be full to bursting; to swell (as the feet, etc.); to develop, become plump or well-conditioned (the body);—v.t. To fill; to satisfy; to bestow in abundance, make rich; to perform, do, fulfil, complete, make good, discharge; to liquidate, pay, repay, reimburse; to load, charge; to fill (colour, in -meṅ), to daub, paint, stain, defile, pollute; to soak or steep (in, -meṅ); to weave, plait, intertwine; to wind, twine; to give (evidence); to repeat (a creed, etc.); to pay (the penalty of), to undergo, suffer, bear, endure; to make (one) pay; to stir up, excite, instigate, incite:—bhar-ānā, v.n. To be or become full (as the heart, etc.); to be possessed or seized (by a spirit):—bhar-jānā, v.n. (intens. of, and=bharnā), To be filled, became full, etc. (see bharnā); to be broken-winded (a horse):—bhar-denā, v.t. intens. of, and=bharnā, q.v.:—bhar-lānā, v.t. To fill, to suffuse (used with āṅsū, e.g. āṅsūbharlānā, q.v.s.v. āṅsū):—bhar-lenā, v.t. To take the full amount due (to one), to exact a demand.
