muftī(for A. مفتٍ muftiṉ, act. part. of افتی 'to notify the decision of the law,' iv of فتو ; see fatwā), s.m. A jurisconsult who notifies the decisions of the (Muhammadan) law, in, or respecting, cases submitted to him; an expounder of Muhammadan law, a Mufti:—muftī-garī, s.f. Office or duty of a Mufti.
