लट laṭ[(in some senses) S. लता; (in others, fr.) S. लट्, लɬand लुट्], s.f. A curl, ringlet, lock of hair);—entangled state, tangle; matted or tangled hair (syn. jaṭā); tangled silk, etc.;—flame;—a tadpole:—laṭ-paṭ, or laṭ-paṭā, adj. (f. -ī), Tangled; folded; irregularly or loosely folded, hanging loose (as a turban);—reeling, tottering, staggering, tripping; stammering;—lively, skittish, frisky, playful, wanton; coquettish; humorous;—foppish, affected, jaunty;—spicy, spiced, seasoned;—thick (as soup, etc.):—laṭ-paṭī, s.f. Reeling, staggering, stumbling; swaggering, etc.:—laṭ-paṭe, adv. With difficulty, in hardship (e.g. laṭ-paṭe din kaṭnā):—laṭdabnā(-kī), To be held or kept down by the hair; to be under the power (of,—e.g. mere hāth-tale unkīlaṭdabīhai).
