kanāra, vulg. kināra [Pehl. kanār; Zend karana, fr. kar, 'to cut'=S. कर ्(कृणोित, कृणाित)], s.m. Side, edge, margin, bank, shore, coast, beach, strand; limit, boundary; end; border, hem; tag end (of a piece of cloth):—kināra pakaṛnā, v.n.=kināra karnā, q.v.:—kināra ćaṛhānā(with loc.), To put a border or hem (to):—kināra-dār, vulg. kināre-dār, adj.
