कल्प kalpa, vulg. kalp, s.m. Sacred precept, rule, law, ordinance; rite, ceremony; performance, manner of acting, practice prescribed by the Vedas; the most complete of the six Vedāngas (comprehending the description of religious rites); a śāstra or sacred book of the Hindūs;—a resolve, resolution, determination, purpose; propriety, fitness; optionality, alternative; doubt; toxicology;—a fabulous period of time, a day of Brahma or 1000 yugas, a period of 4,320,000,000 years (measuring the duration of the world); the duration of the world; the destruction of the world;—an epithet of Vishṇu (as containing all the sacred precepts;—nameof one of the trees of Indra's paradise (see kalp-taru and kalpvr̤iksh):—kalpānt (˚pa+an˚), s.m. The end of a kalpa or period of the world's duration, the end of the world:—kalpāntar, s.m. & adv.
