ćihal, ćihil [Zend, ćathware-śata; S. ćatvariṅśat], adj. Forty:—ćihal-tah, s.f. lit. 'Forty-folds'; a coat of mail (=ćilta, q.v.):—ćihal-sutūn, s.m. A pavilion or palace, etc. supported by forty (or a great number of) columns; also=ćihal-manār, q.v.:—ćihal-qadmī, s.f. A walk, ramble;—a custom at the funeral of Musalmāns, of stepping back forty paces from the grave and again advancing to it before reading the service over:—ćihal-manār, s.m. 'The forty towers'; a name of the ruined city of Persepolis.
