घास ghās[Prk. घासो; S. घासः], s.f. Grass; hay; straw; fodder:—ghās-pāt, s.m. Grass and leaves;—vegetation;—greens;—gardener's refuse; fallen and rotting leaves;—sweepings, rubbish:—ghās-phūsor phūṅs, s.m. Old dry grass or straw; weeds:—ghās-kāṭā, or ghās-kaṭā, s.m. A man whose occupation it is to cut and supply fresh grass daily for a horse (syn. ghasiyārā):—ghās khānā, To eat (or to live on) grass; to eat hemp;—(fig.) to lose (one's) wits or senses:—ghās khodnā, To grub up grass (with a khurpāor hoe):—ghās-wālā, s.m. (f. -wālī), A man who cuts or sells grass.
