मह graha, vulg. grah; and H. िगरह girah, or गरह garah, s.m. The power that seizes and obscures the sun and moon, especially Rāhuor the ascending node;—seizure of the sun or moon, an eclipse (=grahaṇ);—a planet (as seizing or influencing the destinies of men in a supernatural manner: the Hindūmythology recognizes nine planets, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rāhu, Ketu, Sun, and Moon; hence) a symbol for the number 9;—name of certain evil spirits who seize or exercise a bad influence on the body and mind of man (causing insanity, etc.):—grahādhār (˚ha+ādh˚),s.m.
