महण grahaṇ, vulg. girahan, or gahan, s.m. Seizing, holding, taking, catching, clasping; seizure, arrest, apprehension; receiving, accepting, acceptance; seizure of the sun or moon (by Rāhu), an eclipse;—deriving, acquirement, acquisition; buying; putting on; protection; undergoing; study; perceiving, perception, understanding, comprehension; pronouncing:—grahaṇpaṛnā, An eclipse to take place; to be eclipsed:—grahaṇ-snān, s.m. Bathing (for religious purposes) at the time of an eclipse:—grahaṇkarnā, v.t. To take, seize, clasp; to receive, accept; to admit, agree to, assent to; to derive; to perceive, comprehend; to smell, etc. (see grahaṇ).
