डाल ḍāl[Prk. दाली; S. दारी], s.f. A branch, bough; a basket (made of twigs, or split bamboos) used to throw up water from ponds, etc. for irrigation (cf.ḍallā); irrigation of land by throwing up water from a pond, etc.;—blade (of a sword, or knife, etc., to which the handle is not attached):—ḍāl-kāpakkā, adj. (f. -ī), Ripened on the bough or tree:—ḍāl-kā ṭūṭā, adj. (f. -ī), 'Plucked from the branch'; fresh; fine, excellent:—ek ḍāl, adj. Of one piece, without seam or joining.
