चढ़ाना ćaṛhānā(caus. of ćaṛhnā), v.t. To cause to ascend, or mount, or embark, etc.; to cause to rise, or increase, or swell, etc.; to raise, lift, take up; to advance, elevate, exalt, magnify; to offer up (oblations or sacrifice), to sacrifice, devote; to brace (a drum, etc.); to string (a bow); to bend; to pull, draw on or up; to cock; to put (on, upon, or into, -par,—as a utensil on a fire, or colour on a thing, or goods into a boat or ship, etc.); to spread, to apply (colour, or decorations, to, -par, cloth, etc.); to fix (a bayonet, etc.); to put in hand (a work); to raise to the mouth, to drink, imbibe; to lead (an army, against, -par):—ćaṛhā-denā, v.t. intens. of and=ćaṛhānā:—ćaṛhā-lānā, To bring (an army, against, -par).
