चटकना ćaṭaknā[Prk. चडक्क(इ) or चडक्के(इ), fr. S. चट+कृ], v.n. To give forth a snapping or cracking sound, to crack, to crackle (as burning wood, etc.); to break, to crack with a report, to split, burst, explode; to burst or open (as a bud), to bloom; to be irritated; to speak snappishly, or angrily, or rudely; a split or dispute to occur, alienation or estrangement to take place (between, -meṅ, two persons,—in this sense, the verb, in the past imperfect tense, is idiomatically used in the feminine, e.g. un donoṅ-meṅ ḵẖūb ćaṭkī), to fall out; to make (oneself) scarce, to make off, to disappear, go away suddenly; (in Urdūthe word is commonly written ćaṭaḵẖnā):—ćaṭak-jānā, v.n.=ćaṭaknā.
