चोट ćoṭ[S. चुण्टाrt. चुण्ट्; or fr. S. चोटय(ित) rt. चुट्], s.f. Hurt, wound, bruise, injury, damage; a blow, a stroke; a turn; fall; shock, loss (in trade, etc.); rivalry, competition; spite; attempt, effort; assiduity; desire, wish, aim:—ćoṭbāṅdhnā(-kī), To bind up the edge (of a sword, etc.); to defend: to restrain (by magic):—ćoṭ-par ćoṭ, Blow on blow, stroke upon stroke; one misfortune after another; misfortunes come not singly:—ćoṭkarnā(-par, or -meṅ), To hurt, wound; to strike (at), to make an attack (on), to attack; to fire (upon or at); to cast a spell (on or over):—ćoṭkhānā, v.n. To be hurt, be wounded, be injured or damaged; to receive a blow; to suffer loss or injury:—ćoṭlagnā, v.n. To feel pain, to receive an injury, to be hurt, etc. (=ćoṭkhānā).
