ćarḵẖ, vulg. ćaraḵẖ[Zend ćakhra; S. ćakza], s.m. A wheel (as of a water-mill, or of a well, etc.); a potter's wheel; a lathe; the celestial globe or orb, the sphere of the heavens, the heavens, the sky;—circular motion; turn;—fortune, chance;—a cross-bow; a bow in a very tense state;—a falcon (particularly a white one); a hyena:—ćarḵẖ-ě-as̤īr, s.m. The ethereal sphere; the heaven of the stars:—ćarḵẖ-ě-aḵẖẓar, s.m. The blue vault, the ethereal sphere;—ćarḵẖ-ě-at̤las, s.m. The crystalline sphere or heaven (where the Mohammadans imagine the throne of God is fixed):—ćarḵẖ-andāz, s.m. A bowman; an expert archer:—ćarḵẖ-pūjā, ćaraḵẖ-pūjā, s.f.
