पलटा palṭā[Prk. पल्लट्टओ; S. पयर् ःत+कः; see palaṭnā], s.m. Going or turning back, flight, retreat; reverse; turn, stead; change, exchange, barter; recompense, return, requital, retribution, retaliation, revenge (syn. badlā):—an iron pan or ladle with a long handle (used to turn cakes when cooking):—palṭe, palte-meṅ, postpn. Instead (of, -ke), in lieu (of), in return (for), etc. (=badle-meṅ; `iwaẓ):—palṭākhānā, v.n. To turn over, tilt over, turn upside down, turn head over heels; to rebound; to suffer a turn (of fortune); to suffer a reverse:—palṭālenā(-kā), To take revenge (from, -se), to exact retribution.
