ूयाग pra-yāg, vulg. prāg, s.m. 'Sacrifice, oblation'; 'theplace of sacrifice'; name of a celebrated place of pilgrimage (commonly called Allahabad) at the confluence of the Ganges and Jamna with the supposed subterranean Sarasvatī(whence the other name tri-veṇī, 'the three streams.' Prayāg, in composition, is applied to other sacred places situated at the confluence of two rivers, e.g. deva-prayāg, rudra-prayāg, karṇaprayāg, nanda-prayāg, in the Himalaya mountains):—prayāg-rāj, s.m. An epithet of Prayāg:—prayāg-wāl, s.m. A Hindoo priest of Prayāg.
