वीणा vīṇā, and H. (also)वीना vīna, s.f. The Indian lute (i.q. bīnor bīnā, qq.v.;—the Vīṇāis supposed to have been invented by Nārad, the son of Brahmā, and has many varieties, which are enumerated according to the number of strings, etc.; its compass is said to be two octaves):—vīṇā-karaṅ, s.m. Name of one of the Gandharvs.
