वीयर् vīrya, vulg. vīraj, bīraj, s.m. Vigour, strength, power; heroism, prowess, valour, courage, fortitude, firmness;—virile energy, virility; dignity, consequence;—splendour, lustre;—semen virile; seed (of plants, etc.):—vīrya-dān, s.m. 'Seed-gift' (when a husband of one of the three subordinate castes is either dead or away in a distant part of the country, and the wife has not as yet borne a male child, the purohitof that household temporarily fills the husband's place and begets a son):—vīrya-vān, adj.
