ोात्य vrātya, s.m. A man of one of the first three classes (i.e. a Brāhmaṇ, or a Kshatriya, or a Vaiśya) who has lost caste through non-observance of the ten principal sanctifying or purificatory rites (esp. investiture with the sacred thread); one who has fallen from caste, an outcast;—a man of a particular inferior class (regarded as the descendant of a Śūdra father and Kshatriya mother); a low or vile person.
