हिवस् havis (changeable in comp. to हिवर्havir, and हिवष् havish], s.m. Anything offered as an oblation with fire; ghīor clarified butter; an oblation, a burnt-offering, a sacrifice:—havir-bhāg, s.m. A share of an oblation;—one who shares in a sacrifice (an epithet of the gods):—havir-bhuj, adj. & s.m. Eating (or eater of) clarified butter;—fire;—the manes of the Kshatriyas:—havir-dhān, s.m. Name of the author of certain hymns of the Rig-veda;—name of an ancient Hindūprince:—havir-dhānī, s.f.
