होता hotā(f. -i), = H هوت होत hot (dialec.) [Prk. होंतो, हवंतो, or भवंतो, and होंतओ, etc.; S. भवन् , rt. भू ], imperf. part. (of honā), Being, becoming; happening, taking place; advancing, etc. (see honā):—hotā ānā, or hotāćalā ānā, To come along down (from old times); to have been ever so; to be a custom from time immemorial:—hotājānā, To be becoming; to be going on or progressing; to be in course of formation or preparation:—hotārahegā, or hotā-sotārahegā,. It will fall or recoil on you (e.g. hameṅkućh kahegāto hotārahegā, an expression used in reply to terms of abuse or evil wishes, and equivalent to hotā-hu`ātumhāre sir-par rahegā):—hote (obl. of hotā), or hote-par, or hote-sote, adv. In the being or existence (of, -ke); in (or while in) the possession (of); in the presence (of), in front (of), before;—during the time (of); during; whilst;—while possessing a competency;—yet, notwithstanding:—hote, adv.
